Do you feel that the singaporean government provides enough for the poor in Sinagpore

Well i guess you know now, this is my second blog and i'm only starting this because i want to hear peoples' opinions over certain issuses.

Well i just got out from hospital after having gone for an operation because of a torn ligament. I was in the ward with a lot of people and well i guess this means that they are quite poor and cannot afford the single room wards. Anyway, yeah i heard some poor old man talking to his friend about how he was gonig to pay for all his medical bills. He leg just got chopped off, well amputated actually and yeah so i guess he'll be out of work.. Well anyway this just brought to my attention about health care services in Singapore. Well respond to the title and tell me your view points. Don't use this as an example, just from your friends and family and your own experiences. Thanks guys!

Of course not. I don't think I can furnish figures, but the spore government is one of the least welfare friendly in the world. The excuse they give is that people have CPF accounts and that they should be individually responsible for saving up for a rainy day (retirement/hospital bills/retrenchment/midlife crises) and it doesn't want people to be over dependent on it for handouts.

Well I'm not in Singapore so i guess i cant accurately respond to the topic but i just wanted to say that i dont think any government does enough.

Like from australia i think the general view is that singapore is kinda cold when it comes to welfare and all that...other side of the coin, i think australia is way too nice that the aims of welfare arent being met and those who really need it arent getting it and those who rort the system increasingly do.

i know any welfare system could never be perfect..but yeh im one who complains but has no answers. Just that in an ideal world we'd have a happy medium between individual responsibility and govt support.

And everyone would be content as daffodils.
